Shreyas Iyer has made a significant jump in the latest ICC men's T20I batting rankings after his outstanding century against West Indies in the series opener in Lucknow.
The India batter climbed 18 places to reach a career-best seventh position after smashing his maiden T20I century. Iyer remained unbeaten on 102 off just 43 balls, playing a key role in India's victory over West Indies.
Iyer is now the third-highest-ranked Indian batter in the T20I rankings. Ishan Kishan continues to occupy the top spot after his unbeaten 37 off 27 balls, while Abhishek Sharma remains at No. 2 following his quickfire 21 off 10 deliveries.
Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan, England's Harry Brook and Jos Buttler, and South Africa's Dewald Brevis sit between the top two and Iyer in the rankings.
West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford was another notable mover. After scoring a 34-ball 56, Rutherford climbed 10 places from No. 47 to No. 37.
Rashid Khan regains top spot among T20I bowlers
There was also a change at the top of the T20I bowling rankings, with Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan reclaiming the No. 1 position from Pakistan's Abrar Ahmed.
Abrar slipped to second after managing figures of 0 for 29 and 1 for 29 in the semi-final and final of the Asian Games. Rashid, meanwhile, has now returned to the top spot for the eighth time in his career and has spent more than twice as long at No. 1 as any other bowler.
India's Axar Patel was another major beneficiary in the latest rankings. After taking four wickets in two matches at the Asian Games and returning figures of 2 for 26 against West Indies, Axar jumped 16 places to reach seventh.
Bangladesh's spin duo also made significant gains. Nasum Ahmed moved up three places to No. 8, while Mahedi Hasan climbed 10 spots to ninth.
The latest rankings therefore bring strong gains for several Indian players, with Iyer's maiden T20I hundred proving particularly decisive in his rise into the top 10.
